Transform Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

For smiles affected by chips, cracks, discoloration, or other aesthetic issues, porcelain veneers can achieve a completely rejuvenated appearance. Made from highly aesthetic dental ceramic, veneers are attached to the front surfaces of your teeth for an immediate smile transformation. Dr. Shaun Bivens can design and place both traditional and minimal-prep veneers at our dental practice in Mt. Juliet, TN. At Bivens Dentistry, we offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry procedures. We can provide veneers as a stand-alone procedure or as part of a comprehensive smile makeover treatment plan.

Candidates for Porcelain Veneers

If you are interested in porcelain veneers, you must be in good oral health and free of gum disease and decay. We can help restore your candidacy for veneers by first treating any oral health issues. Dental veneers can address a wide variety of cosmetic issues affecting one or more teeth, such as:

  • Gaps
  • Misalignment
  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Discoloration
  • Short or worn teeth

In order to receive traditional veneers, you also need to have sufficient healthy enamel to support the ceramic. If you do not, you may still be a candidate for a minimal-prep option. Dr. Bivens can perform a comprehensive oral health exam during your initial consultation to determine if you are a candidate for veneers.

Many patients choose to have their teeth whitened before receiving veneers so that the porcelain can be matched to the brighter, healthier-looking shade of their smile. By explaining your goals to Dr. Bivens in great detail, he can determine if one treatment or a combination of treatments is the best way to achieve your goals.

Treatment Planning

Since veneers are meticulously personalized, your initial consultation is very important. In addition to an oral health examination, we will take a series of x-rays and digital photographs to assess the health and structure of your teeth. You can then sit down with Dr. Bivens to discuss your goals and concerns. He can also use our specialized software or create a mock-up to help you visualize your expected result.

Preparation and Placement

If you decide to proceed with traditional veneers, Dr. Bivens will remove a thin layer of enamel from the front of your treated teeth to ensure the final result does not appear bulky. Since minimal-prep veneers are thinner, this step is often not required.

Made from highly aesthetic dental ceramic, veneers are attached to the front surfaces of your teeth for an immediate smile transformation.

Next, we will take impressions of your smile and send the information to our trusted dental laboratory. It may take up to two weeks for the lab to fabricate your veneers but we can provide you with temporary restorations to protect your teeth against dental sensitivity.

When your veneers are received from the lab, Dr. Bivens will check their shape and appearance to ensure you are satisfied with the result. Then he will etch your teeth to create a rough surface. This step ensures a strong bond between the ceramic and your enamel. The final stage is bonding your porcelain veneers to the front surfaces of your teeth. At this point, Dr. Bivens can make any final adjustments to refine the results of your transformed smile.

Veneers typically require the removal of a very small amount of enamel from each treated tooth.

Rejuvenate Your Appearance

Porcelain veneers can achieve results which are comparable to more involved, lengthier treatments such as orthodontics, all in a single treatment. Contact our office online or by phone at (615) 773-8882 today to learn more about porcelain veneers and the other cosmetic dentistry services we offer.
